Welcome to all freshers
Want to email your family and friends? Not registered at the University yet?
St Paul's Methodist Centre is offering free email access over freshers weekend. Come and enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee and access your emails for free.
We are open over Freshers weekend at the following times:
Is it really free?
Yes. You can access your email accounts and the web for free at the times specified above.
Why are we doing this?
Email is an important part of a lot of peoples' lifes. Returning students already have their University accounts set-up and can therefore use the University machines. However, freshers won't be able to use these machines until they register. Students can do this via university machines, but this service will help freshers get access until they have registered. We thought that it would be useful to offer this free service.
Do you have a wireless hotspot?
Yes. If you have a wireless enabled laptop then you can use our hotspot. This is also available when our Oasis coffee bar is open (11:00 to 1:30 each weekday)
Do I need to have a laptop?
No. We will have several desktop machines that you can use.
Can I spend as long as I like?
Initial access is for 20 minutes, but if there are no people waiting to get access then you can stay longer. Even if you have to give up the machine at one point, you are very welcome to come again.
Are there other places I can get internet access?
Yes. A couple of places in town offer internet access for a small fee. Several bars in the town also offer wireless access.
Do I have to be a Christian to come along?
No. This service is offered to all new students.
